TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stanislaus State's volleyball senior Haley Burdo is a of the recipient of the University's Metzger-Geiger Award.  She received this honor at the commencement ceremony for the College of Science on Tuesday, May 27. 

The Metzger-Geiger Award, established by Mr. Lee Metzger in 1970 and joined by the Geiger family of Geiger's Jewelry in 1999, is presented to the graduating student with the highest undergraduate grade point average based solely on the coursework completed at Stanislaus State.

Burdo earned her degree in psychology with a minor in child development.  Last fall, she was named to the 2025 All-CCAA Team and the 2025 CCAA Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team.  She is a three-time member of the CSC Academic All-District Team and the CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll.  During her academic career, Burdo posted a 4.00 GPA. 

"Haley has continually set a high standard for our program and represented us well on and off the court," said Stan State head volleyball Coach Lauren Flowers.  "This award highlights her dedication as a student-athlete and leader on campus. It's been an honor to coach Haley and I'm proud to watch her receive another well-deserved accolade to add to her legacy as a Warrior volleyball player."

The Elk Grove native was also named to the D2ADA Academic Achievement Team, Department of Athletics Honor Roll, CCAA All-Academic Team and the AVCA All-Academic Team. At the 2024-25CCAA Volleyball Championships, Burdo received the Elite 13 Award for having the highest GPA among all participants.

At this year's STANYS Awards, Burdo received the Dr. Hal E. Charnofsky Award and was named the Stan State's Female Scholar of the Year.
Burdo finished her career as Stan State's all-time leader in assists with 2,258. She also finished second with her 149 service aces and eighth with 900 digs on the Warrior Top Ten List.
