Stan State Draws with No. 1 Cal Poly Pomona Behind Maragos' Goal

POMONA, Calif.---The Stanislaus State women's soccer team earned an impressive 1–1 draw against No. 1 Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday afternoon at Kellogg Stadium. Olivia Maragos scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season, extending her streak to three straight matches with a goal as the Red and Gold closed out a strong result on the road against the nation's top-ranked Broncos. Kellyann Rodriguez assisted on the goal by Maragos.

Cal Poly Pomona, now 9–1–1 overall and 2–1–1 in the CCAA, opened the scoring in the second half before Stan State rallied to earn the tie. The Warriors moved to 5–2–4 overall and 1–1–2 in conference play.

First Half
Both sides traded early chances in a tightly contested opening half. Stanislaus State's Olivia Maragos nearly broke through in the seventh minute with a shot to the bottom right that was turned away by Cal Poly Pomona's goalkeeper Jenna Tetrault. Goalkeeper Zara Mujica kept the Red and Gold even, making three first-half saves—including a stop on a penalty kick in the 36th minute—to send the match to halftime scoreless.

Second Half
The Broncos struck first in the 59th minute when Anna Schellpeper finished from close range off an assist by Georgia Rink to take a 1–0 lead. Stan State answered 11 minutes later, as Maragos found the back of the net in the 71st minute off a pass from Kellyann Rodriguez to level the score at 1–1. The Warriors' defense held strong over the final stretch, with Mujica making another key save in the 80th minute to preserve the result.
