Senior Day and Blue Chip Sponsorship Evening Highlight Warriors’ Final Home Stand with CSUMB

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State will host Cal State Monterey Bay in its final home stand of the 2025 regular season this Friday-Sunday, April 25-27, at Warrior Field.  Blue Chip Sponsorship Night is set for the series opener this Friday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m.  The teams will play a 1:00 p.m. scheduled doubleheader this Saturday, April 26.  Prior to the series finale on Sunday, April 27, the Warriors will recognize their 19 seniors in a ceremony on the field at 11:20 a.m. First pitch for the series finale is set for noon.
 
FIRST SERIES SWEEP SINCE 2019:  The Warriors recorded their first CCAA four-game series sweep this past weekend for the first time since sweeping Cal State San Bernardino 4-0, March 22-24, 2019.  They swept the Cal State East Bay Pioneers this weekend in Hayward, 16-8, 12-8, 6-5, and 6-4.  Stan State hit .355 as a team with four players hitting over .400 in Flavio Perez (.667), Robert Valdivia (.550), Ryan Leonesio (.438), and Jonluke Goldman (.417).  The Warriors posted a .553 slugging and .390 on-base percentage.  Flavio Perez led the way with his 12 hits, nine runs batted in, and 20 total bases.  Perez and Alex Solis each hit two home runs with Valdivia hitting one.  Valdivia scored a team leading eleven runs to go with his three doubles.  Over on the mound, Quinn Oliver, Rocco Gurrola, Cameron Rosen, and Austin Balentine each posted victories.  Gurrola and Balentine each struck out five batters.
 
WARRIORS:  Stan State enters the weekend with a 18-22 overall record and a 13-17 lCCAA mark.  The Warriors are hitting .282 with a .402 slugging and a .366 on-base percentages.  Their team earned run average is 6.25.  Stan State has stolen 43 bases and struck out 233 batters in 40 games this season.   
 
HITTERS:  Nine Warriors have hit over .275 this season in Jacob Reyes (.385), Ryan Leonesio (.341), Robert Valdivia (.331), Flavio Perez (.323), Jonluke Goldman (.318), Jackson Brooks (.297), Alex Solis (.291), Luke Davies (.286), and Arthur Navarette Jr. (.284).   Davies has a team high .536 slugging percentage and Leonesio has a team leading .434 on-base percentage.  Perez leads Stan State with his 81 total bases, 52 hits, 14 doubles, and is tied with Solis each with five home runs.  Valdivia has driven in a team leading 26 runs and has a team high two triples.  Jacob Baker and Danny Murphy each have stolen a team high nine bases.  Leonesio and Valdivia each lead the team with six sacrifice bunts. Murphy has a team high four sacrifice flies. 
 
PITCHERS:  Austin Balentine leads the team with his 5-3 record.  Rocco Gurrola has struck out a team high 40 batters and walked just ten.  Noah Chelberg leads Stan State with his two saves and 3.20 earned run average to go with his 18 strikeouts and ten walks.  Patrick Sweeney has 14 strikeouts and five walks while Balentine has 35 strikeouts and 19 walks.  Cameron Rosen has 32 strikeouts and ten walks. 
 
WALK-OFFS: Stan State has five walk-off victories heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. The first came in the Warriors 3-2 victory in ten innings of Minnesota Crookston on Feb. 16.  Alex Solis had a lead-off double and was pinch ran for by Jackson Brooks who then went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Flavio Perez.  Brooks scored on an Arthur Navarette Jr. infield single to second base.  Their second walk-off win was in the night cap of Saturday's February 22 doubleheader with No. 20 CSUSB.  With one out, Perez and Luke Davies had back-to-back singles.  Danny Murphy pinch ran for Perez and scored on a Jonluke Goldman single up the middle.  On March 7 in the Warriors' 5-4 eleven-inning victory over Cal State Los Angeles, Navarette hit a walk-off single that brought in Jacob Reyes with the game-winning run in the eleventh inning. The Warriors had two walk-off victories in their doubleheader sweep of Sonoma State on April 12.  Robert Valdivia scored the game-winning run in their 10-9 ten inning victory over the Seawolves when Navarette reached on an error.  In the night cap on Saturday, Navarette drove in Valdivia on a walk-off single in the 4-3 victory.
 
RECORD BOOKS:  Alex Solis is in the top ten in the State State's record books in six categories. Solis is first in doubles (51), second in total bases (290), at bats (679), hits (193), tied for fourth in runs scored (103), and tied for seven in runs batted in (95).  Flavio Perez is tied for fourth in doubles (39), fifth in total bases (55), sixth in at bats (539), hits (163), and seventh in home runs (17).  Robert Valdivia is fourth in sacrifice hits (21) and fifth in hits (166).  Ryan Leonesio is seventh in sacrifice hits (19) and tied for ninth in stolen bases (35).  Jacob Baker is second in hit by pitches (31) and tied for ninth in stolen bases (35). 
 
NATIONALLY: Stan State is fourth in the nation with its .980 fielding percentage.  The Warriors are 12th in sacrifice hits (35) and 21st in double plays per game (.850). 
 
CCAA STATS:  Stan State is first in the CCAA in fielding percentage (.980) and tied for first in triples (11) and sacrifice hits (35).  The Warriors are third in stolen bases (43) and tied for fifth in hit by pitches (49).  Jacob Baker is tied for fourth in hit by pitches (10), tied for sixth in triples (2), and tied for eighth in stolen bases (9).  Robert Valdivia is tied for third in sacrifice hits (6) and tied for sixth in triples (2).  Flavio Perez is tied for second in doubles (4), Luke Davies is tied for sixth in triples (2), Austin Balentine is tied for sixth in wins (5), Ryan Leonesio is tied for sixth in sacrifice hits (6), Danny Murphy is tied for eighth in stolen bases (9), and Noah Chelberg is tied for tenth with two saves.   
 
MISCELLANEOUS:  Robert Valdivia has 15 multiple-hit games followed by Flavio Perez and Arthur Navarette Jr. each with 13 and Ryan Leonesio and Alex Solis each with 12.  Valdivia has eight multiple-RBI games and Perez has seven. 
 
STILL ALIVE:  Stan State is still alive for the six-team 2025 CCAA Baseball Championship Tournament presented by FloCollege that will be held at Reeder Field on the campus of Cal State Los Angeles, May 7-10, in Los Angeles.

CAL STATE MONTEREY BAY:  The Otters enter the weekend with a 27-14 overall record and a 20-12 CCAA record after splitting its home series with Cal State San Marcos.  They are hitting .303 as a team with a .507 slugging and a .386 on-base percentage.  Their team earned run average is 4.42.  KW Quilici leads CSUMB with his .394 batting average, 37 runs batted in, 115 total bases, 45 runs scored, 67 hits, three triples, .676 slugging percentage, five stolen bases, and .455 on-base percentage.  Jaden Sheppard has hit a team leading 11 home runs while Javier Felix has a team leading 17 doubles. Aidan Lee has a team low 3.89 earned run average and team best 4-1 record.  Andrew Kotin has recorded a team leading five saves. Nate Rohlicek leads CSUMB with his 57 strikeouts and just nine walks. 
 
ALL-TIME SERIES:  Stan State leads the all-time series with the Otters 40-39.  CSUMB swept the season series last year in Seaside:  11-5, 12-1, 10-6, and 11-9.  The Otters took three out of four games from the Warriors in Turlock in 2023.  The Warriors won the seven-inning game 7-6 when Ryan Leonesio scored when Jacob Baker was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.  Tyler Van Dyk went two-for-three with two runs scored, Robert Valdivia was two-for-four with a run batted in while Baker was one-for-three with two runs batted in and a run scored.  Caleb Bertoncini picked up the win in relief pitching 0.2 scoreless innings and striking out two.
