After First Round of the CCAA’s, Warriors Are in Sixth Place
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--- After the First Round of the 2025 CCAA Men's Golf Championships presented by Under Armour, Stan State is in sixth place with its 15-over par 303 at the par-72 Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, Calif. Chris Chomyn led the way for the Warriors with his even-par 72, which places him in a five-way tie for fourth place. Cal State Monterey Bay shot a one-over par 289 to lead the eight-team championship tournament. The Otters' Wilhelm Berg Von Linde and Chico State's Naoki Easterday each shot a two-under par 70 to lead the individuals heading into the second-round tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m.
WARRIORS: Chris Chomyn led the way for Stan State with his even-par 70 to put him in a five-way tie for fourth place. Three strokes behind Chomyn is Ricky Sullivan with his three-over par 75, which places him in a seven-way tie for 13th place. Chase Bird shot a five-over par 77, which puts him in a six-way tie for 23rd place. Two strokes behind Bird is Nate Jetton with his seven-over par 79 for 31st place. Jack Peters shot an eight-over par 80, which places him in a three-way tie for 32nd place.
TEAMS: Cal State Monterey Bay leads the field with its one-over par 289. Sitting in second place is Cal State East Bay with a three-over par 291 followed by Chico State in third place (295, seven-over par). Five strokes behind Chico State is Cal State San Bernardino with a 12-over par 300. One stroke behind the Yotes is Sonoma State with its 13-over par 301 followed by Stan State in sixth place with a 15-over par 303. Rounding out the eight-team field are Cal State San Marcos (311, seventh) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (325, eighth).
TOP FIVE INDIVIDUALS: There is a tie for first place between Cal State Monterey Bay's Wilhelm Berg Von Linde and Chico State's Naoki Easterday each with a two-under par 70. One stroke behind them is Cal State East Bay's Oscar Blomqvist with a one-under par 71 in third place. There is a five-way tie for fourth place with each golfer with an even-par 72 in the Warriors Chris Chomyn, Cooper Groshart (Cal State East Bay), and the Cal State Monterey Bay duo of Simon Bjorken and Tom Kimberling.
BIRDIES/PARS: Chris Chomyn had twelve pars and three birdies after his first round followed by Ricky Sullivan with his eleven pars and three birdies. Nate Jetton recorded ten pars and two birdies while Jack Peters had twelve pars. Chase Bird finished his first round with nine pars and two birdies.
SECOND ROUND: Stan State will tee-off tomorrow morning in the Second Round of the CCAA's between 9:30 a.m.-10:14 a.m. The Warriors will be paired with Cal State San Marcos, Sonoma State, and Cal State Dominguez Hills. The final round of the championships is set for this Wednesday, April 23 at 7:30 a.m.
