Four Stan State Men’s and Women’s Soccer Players Named to 2024 Academic All-District Team
TURLOCK, Calif.--- As announced this afternoon, four members of the Stan State men's and women's soccer teams were named to 2024 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Soccer Teams as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). These four Warrior student-athletes are Aliah Avila, Marco Carbajal, Kayla Perez, and Makeila Yancey.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Avila started in all 19 matches of the Warriors this season and scored nine goals and had four assists for 22 points. Earlier this month, she was named the 2024 CCAA Midfielder of the Year. She was a First Team All-CCAA honoree. Last season, the Second Team All-CCAA honoree was a member of the CCAA All-Academic Team as well as the Stan State Department of Athletics' Honor Roll.
Carbajal played in 14 matches this season for the Warriors. He scored two goals and assisted on one this season for the Warriors. During his career at Stan State, he was named to the CCAA Fall All-Academic Honor Roll, D2ADA Academic Achievement Team, CCAA All-Academic Team, and the Stan State Department of Athletics' Honor Roll.
Perez saw time in all 19 matches for Stan State this season. She had ten shot attempts including six on goal. During her freshman season, Perez was named to the Stan State Department of Athletics' Honor Roll. She started in 12 of the 19 matches she played in during her freshman season.
For the second time in her career, Yancey was named to the All-CCAA Honorable Mention Team this season. Earlier this season, she was named the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Yancey has several academic achievements as well including D2ADA Academic Achievement, CSC Academic All-District, and CCAA All-Academic Team.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists will be announced on December 11, 2024.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
