Warriors Victorious Over Sunbirds, 62-58

FRESNO, Calif.--- Stan State played Fresno Pacific University tonight, winning the game 62-58. The Warriors take their first win of the season with Talia Maxwell, Jadyn Patterson, Da'Myiah Lewis, and Krista Andersen scoring the team's field goals.

FIRST QUARTER: Fresno Pacific opened scoring for the game with a three pointer, which Talia Maxwell immediately followed with a layup. Alyssa Premo's early block helped aid the Warriors to take the lead off a layup by Da'Myiah Lewis.
 
SECOND QUARTER: The Warriors extended their lead immediately with a jumper by Jadyn Patterson. The Sunbirds began making a comeback, though Talia Maxwell's three points and her assist on Krista Anderson's three pointer ensured Stan State remained ahead.
 
THIRD QUARTER: The Sunbirds came out strong in the third, tying the score off two threes pointers. Stan State returned shots, but the Fresno Pacific continued to outpace them. Talia Maxwell's and Jadyn Patterson's threes brought the score close going into the final quarter.
 
FOURTH QUARTER: Da'Myiah Lewis quickly brought the score within one with a layup, with Jadyn Patterson's jumper giving the Warriors the lead back. The teams traded the lead, neither one letting up. Jadyn Patterson's ten points in the fourth quarter helped ensure Stan State's victory.
 
BRING THE HEAT: Jadyn Patterson set two new career highs tonight, with seven field goals made and 19 points for the game. Patterson also shot an impressive 50% from the floor, playing all 40 minutes of the game. Talia Maxwell recorded three new career highs (points, three pointers made, and free throws made) and tied for her career-high in field goals made. Maxwell's career-high 26 points led the team, followed by Jadyn Patterson's 19 points.
 
POWER PAIR: Talia Maxwell and Da'Myiah Lewis remain standouts with double-doubles for each of them. Maxwell coupled her 26 points with 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season and the third of her career. For Lewis, her 10 points and 13 rebounds marks the first double-double of the season and the third of her career as well.
 
TEAM STAT SNAP: Stan State paced the Sunbirds in steals, nabbing six for the Warriors over Fresno Pacific's three. Stan State's defense was strong with seven blocks to Fresno Pacific's zero. The Warriors also continued their strong performance in fastbreak points, outscoring the Sunbirds seven to one.
 
UP NEXT:  The Warriors return home on Tuesday, November 26th to play Jessup University at 5:00 p.m. The following Saturday, November 30th, Stan State will have their CCAA opener against Cal State Monterey Bay with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
