Stan State Women’s Cross Country Climbs to No. 10 Nationally, Holds No. 2 in West Region
NEW ORLEANS--- The Stanislaus State women's cross country team climbed two spots to No. 10 in the nation in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II rankings released Tuesday.
The Warriors earned 163 points in the Oct. 29 national poll, marking their seventh straight week appearing in both the national and regional rankings, including the preseason poll. Stan State remains one of only two California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) programs ranked among the nation's top 10, joining conference rival Chico State at No. 9.
Five West Region programs are represented in this week's national top 30: Chico State (No. 9), Stanislaus State (No. 10), Biola (Calif.) (No. 13), Western Washington (No. 20), and Alaska Anchorage (No. 27). The showing underscores the region's national strength and depth heading into the NCAA postseason.
In the West Region rankings, Chico State continues to hold the top spot, followed by Stan State, Biola, Western Washington, and Alaska Anchorage rounding out the top five. Seattle Pacific sits sixth, followed by Simon Fraser (7th), Cal Poly Pomona (8th), Point Loma Nazarene (9th), and Vanguard (Calif.) (10th).
The Warriors are coming off a strong performance at last week's CCAA Championships in Chico, where they finished second with just 24 points behind team champion Chico State. Annie Wild led the way with a runner-up finish in 21:39.5, followed by Izzy Soto (7th, 22:05.7), Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva (8th, 22:06.3), Nina Furtado (10th, 22:10.9), and Bela Moreno (12th, 22:12.3). All five earned All-CCAA honors, marking the third straight selection for both Wild and Sanchez-Silva and the second for Crystal Hernandez (16th, 22:16.2). The result marked Stan State's third top-two conference finish in the past four seasons.

Stan State will compete at the NCAA Division II West Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Ash Creek Preserve in Monmouth, Oregon. The Warriors will look to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships for the third time in the last four years and second year in a row. The NCAA Championships are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22, in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
