No. 14 Warriors Post Second Consecutive Shutout to Improve to 4-0
LACEY, Wash. — The 14th-ranked Stanislaus State men's soccer team stayed unbeaten with a commanding 4-0 road win at Saint Martin's on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors (4-0-0) struck early, built a two-goal halftime lead, and never looked back as they posted their second consecutive shutout while Emmanuel Duran recorded his second brace in the last three matches.
First Half
The Warriors wasted little time in taking control, as Kenneth Solares opened the scoring just three minutes in with his second goal of the season — and fourth of his career — off a feed from Sergio Garcia. Stan State doubled its lead in the 21st minute when Duran finished off a pass from Samuel Villanueva, who notched his fifth assist in the last three matches and the ninth of his Warrior career. Stan State carried a 2-0 advantage into halftime, holding Saint Martin's to just three shots in the opening frame.
Second Half
The Warriors continued their offensive surge after the break. Duran struck again in the 55th minute, recording his second brace in the last three matches when he converted on an assist from David Lozano. Just three minutes later, Christian Brenes tallied his second goal in as many matches, scoring in the 59th minute off a setup from Hugo Canedo. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Angel Ruiz-Hernandez made four saves before giving way to Haidyn Stevens, as the Warrior backline secured the team's second straight shutout and 10th over the last two seasons.
