TURLOCK, Calif.--- The Warriors hosted Sonoma State today for the first of two doubleheaders. The Seawolves got the better of Stan State, taking the first game 7-0 and claiming the second game 4-1.
GAME 1: Sonoma State (23-18, 10-12 CCAA) took the lead in the top of the first with two singles and a stolen base. A walk, sacrifice bunt, and single scored their second run in the second inning. The Seawolves earned three more in the third using three singles and a triple. Their sixth run came in the sixth inning, with a walkout, a groundout that moved the runner, and a single. In the seventh, the Seawolves earned another with a pair of singles and an error to take the game 7-0.
The Warriors (12-22, 7-14 CCAA) three hits came from Malia Babasa, Karli DalBianco, and Katie Thornsberry. Allejandra Perea also recorded a walk.
GAME 2: Sonoma State scored in the third with a triple, a double, a single, and a batter hit by a pitch.
Stan State earned a run in the fourth, starting with a single by Sarah Warden. A sacrifice bunt by Allejandra Perea moved Warden to second. McKenna Beach earned a two-out walk, and Avery Jolley singles to score Warden.
The Seawolves put up their fourth run in the fifth, using a single, stolen base, and another single, claiming the game 4-0.
JOLLEY: Avery Jolley went two-for-three in game two with a run batted in. This is her best performance as a batter since becoming a Warrior.
BABASA: Malia Babasa is back on an offensive streak. She is now on a seven game on-base streak, working back up to her season-high of 15 bases. Babasa got a hit in each of today's games to also start a new hitting streak.
UP NEXT: The Warriors play the second half of the four-game series at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, April 5th. Stan State travels to Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday, April 11th for a pair of doubleheaders, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The second doubleheader is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12th.
