Stan State men 15th at UCR Invitational; Jackson Oliveira leads the way

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Led by a top-10 finish from Jackson Oliveira, the Stanislaus State men's cross country team battled a deep and talented field in the 8K Invitational race at the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday, finishing 15th out of 24 teams. The Warriors were one of just five Division II programs in the race and held their own against a lineup filled with Division I competition.

Oliveira turned in a standout performance for the Warriors, crossing the line 10th overall in 23:48.3. His brother Mason Oliveira was next for Stan State, placing 47th in 24:41.5.

Osvaldo Segoviano (104th, 25:16.3), Jonathan Hupman (117th, 25:24.6), and Patricio Kearney (131st, 25:33.2) rounded out the Warriors' scoring five. Evan Silva (145th, 25:41.6) and Quentin Clarke (209th, 27:26.5) also competed for Stan State, adding to the team's depth.

University of San Francisco won the men's 8K Invite team title with 33 points, and the Dons' Ahmed Faris captured the individual crown in 23:20.5.

Stan State will continue its regular season at the SF State Invitational on Friday, Oct. 10, at Golden Gate Park's Speedway Meadows in San Francisco. This will be the Warriors' final tune-up before the CCAA Championships on Oct. 24 at Bidwell Park in Chico, hosted by Chico State.
