Stan State’s Annie Wild Provisionally Qualifies in Mile with School Record Time of 4:46.05

SEATTLE, Wash.---  For the second consecutive day, Stan State's Annie Wild provisionally qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Seattle, Wash.  This afternoon Wild ran time of 4:46.05 to shatter her school record time of 4:52.15 that she ran last year. Heading into today, Wild's time of 4:46.05 is the fastest time in the nation in NCAA Division II.

"Great performances today capped by a shattering of her own mile record by Annie Wild…Coach Holman said very early in training that Wild was ready to do something special and she achieved a record in her season debut is a testament to her hard work and dedication…Great job by everyone this weekend," said Stan State head coach Troy Johnson.

Wild's time of 4:46.05 was the 20th fastest in the field and first in her heat in the Mile City Invite, which consisted of runners from Oregon State, Stanford, Northwestern, and Washington.  The Warrior sophomore provisionally qualified for nationals yesterday with her time of 2:11.23 in the 800-meter run.

Stan State had nine runners competing in the Mile City Heats this morning in Seattle, Wash.  Crystal Hernandez finished 11th in the field and 11th in her heat with a time of 5:05.09, which is the tenth fastest time in school history. Running a 5:10.50 to finish in 28th place in the field and eleventh in her heat was Yahaira Zuniga.  Finishing right behind Zuniga in 29th place with her time of 5:10.74 was Jacqueline Sanchez-SilvaTessa Vasquez was the next Warrior with her 34th place time of 5:11.87.  The next five Stan State runners were Dede Salcedo (5:18.34, 59th), Noheli Ron (5:18.85, 61st), Bela Moreno (5:22.48, 77th), Ariana Puccini (5:24.16, 77th), and Milca Osorio (5:31.50, 111th). 

Among the other teams competing in the Mile City Heats were Saint Martin's, Seattle Pacific, Alaska Anchorage, Western Washington, Simon Fraser, Western Oregon, and Portland State.

Stan State will return to competition on Friday, January 24 in Reno, Nev., when the Warriors compete in the Nevada Invite at the Reno Sparks Convention Center.
