Stan State Women’s Soccer Earns 19th Consecutive United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The United Soccer Coaches announced today that the Stanislaus State women's soccer team has been honored with the 2024-25 College Team Academic Award. The Warriors are among 414 women's programs nationwide recognized for academic excellence.
This marks the 19th consecutive year Stan State has earned the award, having received the honor every year since 2006.
Under the leadership of head coach Gabriel Bolton, Stan State is one of five California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) programs to earn the award, joining Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State East Bay, Cal State San Marcos, and Chico State.
In the fall, three Warriors — Aliah Avila, Kayla Perez, and Makeila Yancey — were named to the Academic All-District Team, sponsored by the Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC). Eleven Warriors were selected to the 2024-25 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll, including Avila, Perez, and Yancey, along with Malia Allen, Amanda Do, Francesca Hahn, Haylee Heffner, Kaia Mills, Alexi Ochoa, Amber Pon, and Katie Smith.
As announced this week by the CCAA, several Warriors were named to the 2024-25 CCAA All-Academic Team: Malia Allen, Aliah Avila, Amanda Do, Jocelyn Figueroa, Francesca Hahn, Haylee Heffner, Jayden Jimenez, Shauna Johnston, Olivia Kamm, Kaia Mills, Kyndra Obermeyer, Alexi Ochoa, Ycela Ochoa, Kayla Perez, Amber Pon, Katie Smith, Kayla Umana, Zoie Willson, and Makeila Yancey.
Eight Warriors were inducted as the inaugural class of the Stan State chapter of the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society: Aliah Avila, Malia Allen, Haylee Heffner, Kaia Mills, Alexi Ochoa, Ycela Ochoa, Kayla Perez, Amber Pon, and Makeila Yancey.
The Warriors were also recognized for their performance on the field. Aliah Avila was named the CCAA Midfielder of the Year and earned First Team All-CCAA honors.
