Warriors Host Jessup and Cal State Monterey Bay

TURLOCK, Calif.--- The Warriors host two games at the Fitzpatrick Arena this week after capturing a win versus Fresno Pacific in Fresno, Calif. They begin with Jessup University on Tuesday, November 26th at 5:00 p.m., then play Cal Sate Monterey Bay on Saturday, November 20th with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
 
WARRIORS ECLIPSE SUNBIRDS: Talia Maxwell put up impressive numbers, leading the team with a career-high 26 points along with 11 rebounds for a double-double. Da'Myiah Lewis recorded a double-double of her own with 10 points and a team-leading 13 rebounds, which tied with her career-high. Jadyn Patterson tallied a career-high for herself with 19 points, shooting 7 for 14 (50%) from the field, as well as nabbing four rebounds. Patterson also recorded two assists and no turnovers, making her turnover to assist ratio an even one-to-one so far this season.
 
The team had an impressive seven blocks, with two each from Krista Anderson and Talia Maxwell. They forced 19 turnovers, scoring 22 points off them, and held Fresno Pacific to shooting just 35.5% from the field. Despite the Sunbirds scoring more bench points, the Warriors were able to hold back Fresno Pacific to take the victory.
 
WARRIORS IN REVIEW: Stan State heads into the week 1-3 after emerging victorious over Fresno Pacific 62-58. The Warriors are shooting 81.1% from the charity stripe to lead the conference and earn the 12th spot in the nation. They are averaging 9.3 steals and 3.3 blocks per game. Talia Maxwell's 71 points leads the team, followed by Da'Myiah Lewis at 67 points. Jadyn Patterson's 10 assists are team-leading, and her seven steals are the second-best behind Maxwell's 10 steals. Lewis leads the team in rebounds with 32 with Maxwell close behind at 31.
 
HOMECOMING: Talia Maxwell put up impressive numbers during a homecoming game for her with the win at Fresno Pacific. Maxwell led the team with a career-high 26 points along with 11 rebounds for a double-double.
 
DOUBLE DIGITS & DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Da'Myiah Lewis and Talia Maxwell have scored double digit points in every regular season game thus far. Lewis is averaging 16.8 points per game while Maxwell averages 17.8 points per game. Talia Maxwell has recorded two double-doubles this season in just four games, with her first coming at Central Washington (12 points, 10 rebounds) and the other in last week's game against Fresno Pacific (26 points, 11 rebounds). Da'Myiah Lewis recorded her first of this season at Fresno Pacific with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Maxwell is currently 26 for 27 (96.3%) in free throws, ranking her 17th in the nation for free throw percentage.
 
PATTERSON: Jadyn Patterson played in all 40 minutes in the game at Fresno Pacific, draining a career-high 19 points. She also recorded a new career-high in field goals made (seven) and free throws made (three). Patterson's four steals was the second-most on the team and she matched that by giving no turnovers. She shot 50% from the field and made both of her free throws.
 
JESSUP WARRIORS IN REVIEW: Jessup (2-3 overall) is currently shooting 33.7% from the field, averaging 51.8 points per game. Opponents of Jessup are typically better at converting turnovers to points, with Jessup being outscored 16.2 to 12.4 on average. The Warriors have a deep bench, outscoring their opponents in all but one of their games thus far.  Andrea Jovicevic is the leading scorer for Jessup with 61 points, six rebound average, and 12 assists. Jacklyn Kulow leads in steals, nabbing seven balls, and is tied for the team lead in blocks with Brianna Byrnes who has also recorded three.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: Stan State last faced Jessup University on November 22, 2011, at the Fitzpatrick Arena. The Warriors won the game 73-45.
 
OTTERS IN REVIEW: Cal State Monterey Bay (1-3 overall) is going toe to toe with their opponents in rebounds with 159 rebounds to their opponents' 160. However, they turn the ball over 6.5 times more per game than their opponents. Only three of their players have recorded blocks with Leah Sarabia consisting of three of the team's five steals. The top scorer for the Otters is Ella Doherty, with 66 points and 16.5 points per game, shooting 48.2% from the field with 27 field goals made on 56 attempts. Jayden McNeal is next in line, 14 for 27 (51.9%) from the field with 39 total points scored. Sha'nece Garrett leads the team in steals (five) and rebounds (26, 6.5 per game).
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: Stan State leads the all-time series with Cal State Monterey Bay 22-18, facing them last season twice. The two teams split the series, with the Warriors taking the first game on December 31, 2023, 78-73 and the Otters winning the most recent game on February 29, 2024, 59-76.
 
CCAA OPENER: Stan State's game versus Cal State Monterey Bay will be their CCAA opener as their first conference game of the season.
