Track & Field to Compete for Championships this Weekend at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium

TURLOCK, Calif.---  For the second year in a row, Stan State will host the 2025 CCAA Track & Field Championships presented by Polo Camperio this Thursday-Saturday, May 1-3 at the Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium on the campus of Stanislaus State in Turlock, Calif.  The three-day championships will commence with the multi-events this Thursday, May 1 at 10:00 a.m.  They will conclude with the awards ceremony this Saturday, May 3 at 5:30 p.m.  Day two and day three of the championships will begin at 11:00 a.m. both mornings.

NCAA DIVISION II QUALIFYING MARKS:  Four Warriors have recorded NCAA Division II qualifying times in six events.  Annie Wild is sixth in the 1500-meter run (4:19.67) and 17th in the 800-meter run (2:08.76).  Trent Lauderdale is seventh in the 400-hurdles (51.16) and 50th in the 400-meter run (47.53).  Mila Real is 29th in the 400-hurdles (1:01.27) and Jackson Oliveira is 52nd in the 5,000-meter run (14:15.54).

MOVING INTO STAN STATE RECORD BOOKS:  Twenty-one Warriors have moved into the top ten in the Stan State record books in their respective events.  Annie Wild is first in the 1500-meter run and fourth in the 800-meter run.  Rionna Wallace is first in the 200-meter dash and second in the 100-meter dash. Trent Lauderdale is third in the 400-hurdles and fourth in the 400-meter dash. Mila Real is second in the 200-meter dash and seventh in the 100-hurdles.  Jaevin Sawyer is fifth in the 100-meter dash and sixth in the 200-meter dash. Jackson Oliveira is second, Dominic Robles is third, Mason Oliveira is sixth, and Abe Alsaidi is eighth in the 5000-meter run.  Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva is sixth and Yahaira Zuniga is seventh in the 5000-meter run. 

Joshua Shimoda is seventh, Cole Bailey is ninth, and Justice McDermott is tenth in the javelin.  The men's 4x400 relay team of Eris Hutchins, Jaheim Williams, Jaevin Sawyer, and Trent Lauderdale are fifth.  Reyna Dismukes is sixth in the triple jump and Devin Hernandez is sixth in the shot put.  Eighth in the 110 hurdles is Dillon Carolina and eighth in the 1500-meter run is Crystal HernandezMakenzie Kordic is ninth in the 10,000-meter run and Bela Moreno is tenth in the 3,000-steeplechase. 

FLOCOLLEGE/CCAA TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:  Trent Lauderdale was a two-time recipient of the FloCollege/CCAA Male Track Athlete of the Week for the weeks of March 3-9 and March 24-30.  For the week of March 3-9, Lauderdale improved his NCAA DII qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles with a a personal best time of 52.44.  He ran the anchor leg on the 4x100 relay team which finished second at the Cal Season Opener with a time of 41.56.  During the week of March 24-30, Lauderdale ran a first-place time of 51.21 in the 400-hurdles at the West Coast Relays.  He was part of both relay teams.  The 4x100 relay team finished second with a time of 41.69 and the 4x400 ran a time of 3:16.27.

HIGHEST WARRIOR FINISH: Stan State men's track and field team's best finish at the CCAA's was second place in 2007. Since 1999, the Warriors finished twice in third place in 2006 and 2016.  The Warrior women's track and field team's best finish at the CCAA's was second in 2018.  They have finished in third place six times in 2000, 2001, 2007, 2014, and 2016.

LAST YEAR'S TEAM FINISH:  Stan State's women finished in fourth out of 11 teams while Cal Poly Pomona captured the women's title.  The Warrior men finished in sixth place out of eight teams while Broncos captured the 2024 championships. 

2024 STAN STATE CHAMPIONS/INDIVIDUAL AWARD WINNERS:  Annie Wild captured the 800-meter and 1500-meter run race while Najwa Chouati won the 10,000-meter run.  Caitlyn Bell captured the women's hammer throw and Jason Lindsay captured the men's hammer.  Chouati was the Track Athlete of the Meet and High Point Award recipient.  Wild was the Freshman of the Meet. 

2024 ALL-CCAA WARRIORS:  By placing in the top three in their respective events, ten Warriors earned All-CCAA honors in twelve events at the 2024 CCAA's.  Cole Bailey (javelin, third), Caitlyn Bell (hammer, first), Najwa Chouati (10,000, first; 1500, second; 5,000, second), Jacob Diaz (1500, third), Jose Garcia (5,000, third), Reyna Dismukes (long jump, second), Lamont Lane (hammer, second), Jason Lindsay (hammer, first), Annie Wild (1500, first; 800, first), and Yahaira Zuniga (10,000, second).

NCAA DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIPS: This year's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for May 22-24 at The ThunderBowl on the campus of Colorado State Pueblo.  The official field for the championships will be announced on www.ncaa.com on May 13, 2025.
