Flores Named FloCollege/CCAA Offensive Player of the Week After Leading No. 1 Warriors to Two More Wins
TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stanislaus State senior forward Gerardo Flores has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after powering the No. 1-ranked Warriors to another perfect weekend, highlighted by wins over Chico State and Cal State Monterey Bay.
Flores scored both goals in Friday's 2-0 home win over Chico State, breaking a scoreless tie in the 59th minute off an assist from Samuel Villanueva before adding an insurance goal in the 67th, assisted by Christian Brenes and Emmanuel Duran. He followed that effort with two assists in Sunday's 4-1 road victory at Cal State Monterey Bay, setting up Emmanuel Duran's go-ahead goal in the 67th minute and Alexis Cervantes' late strike in the 87th.
The performances helped extend Stan State's unbeaten season to 13-0-1 overall and 7-0-1 in CCAA play—and with Sunday's victory, the Warriors officially clinched a spot in the CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament for the first time since 2015.
The Modesto native now leads the Warriors with nine goals, five assists, and 23 points on the season.
Behind Flores' attacking spark, the Warriors have outscored opponents 33–8 this fall while averaging 2.36 goals per match.
Flores ranks fifth in the nation in game-winning goals, 18th in total goals, 14th in total points, 18th in points per game, and 24th in goals per game. Within the CCAA, he ranks first in both goals and game-winning goals and is tied for sixth in assists.
In the Stan State single-season record book, Flores is tied for fifth in both points (23) and goals (9).
Flores becomes the fifth Warrior this season to be named either FloCollege/CCAA Offensive or Defensive Player of the Week. He joins Emmanuel Duran (Offensive POTW, Sept. 1–7), Christian Brenes (Defensive POTW, Sept. 8–14), Angel Ruiz-Hernandez (Defensive POTW, Sept. 15–21), and Ian Reis (Defensive POTW, Oct. 20–26).
Stanislaus State next visits No. 16 Cal State Dominguez Hills this Friday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m., and then returns home to host UC Merced on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 11:30 a.m. in its regular-season home finale. Both matches will stream live on FloCollege.
The CCAA Soccer Championship First Round is set for Nov. 9 at the site of the higher seed, while the top two seeds receive first-round byes. The semifinals and finals will be played at Cardinale Stadium in Seaside, on the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay, Friday–Sunday, Nov. 14–15. The tournament champion will earn the CCAA's automatic berth to the NCAA Championships.
