Stan State’s Jeremiah Jones Named FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
TURLOCK, Calif.--- As announced this afternoon by the office of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), Stan State's Jeremiah Jones is the FloCollege/CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 11-23, 2024. Jones averaged 25.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game to lead the Warriors to a 2-0 weekend. The senior guard shot 74% from the field including 66.7% from beyond the arc.
Jones started the weekend scoring a career high 33 points in the Warriors' 94-88 victory over Western Oregon this past Friday in the first game of the Ron Logsdon Challenge in Rohnert Park, Calif. He shot 13-for-15 from the field, connected on two of his four attempts from three-point land, and was a perfect five-for-five from the charity stripe. Jones grabbed rebounds and recorded two steals in the win over the Wolves. He also dished out three assists and had just one turnover in 32 minutes.
The Vacaville, Calif., native came back the next night to score 17 points and grab five rebounds in Stan State's 75-67 win over Hawai'i Pacific. He went seven-for-12 from the field and was a perfect two-for-two in his attempts from beyond the arc. Jones dished out three assists and had no turnovers in 27 minutes. He hit a key three down the stretch which sealed the eight-point victory for the Warriors.
For the season, Jones is averaging 19.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game for the 3-1 Warriors. He is shooting 63% from the field while connecting on four of his eleven attempts from beyond the arc. Jones is seven-for-ten in his attempts from the free throw stripe. He has dished out ten assists and recorded five steals.
Heading into this week's games in the CCAA, Jones second with his 63% shooting from the field and fourth in scoring (19.8 ppg). His 33 points scored against Western Oregon are the second most scored in the CCAA this season. His 13 made field goals ties for most in a single this season with Cal State San Bernardino's Andrew Henderson.
Stan State will return to the court on Wednesday, November 20 for a 7:00 p.m. exhibition game in Moraga, Calif., against Saint Mary's College. The Warriors will have their home opener this Saturday, November 23 at 3:00 p.m., when they face UC Merced at The Fitzpatrick Arena. This will be the beginning of a three-game home stand for the Warriors to end the month of November. They will host Academy of Art on Wednesday, November 27 at 3:00 p.m. Stan State's final home game for November will also be its CCAA opener on Saturday, November 30 against Cal State Monterey Bay with a scheduled 3:00 p.m. tip at The Fitzpatrick Arena.
