Warriors Finish Regular Season with Four-Game Road Series with Chico State

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State will finish its 2025 regular season with four road games this Thursday-Saturday, May 1-3 in Chico, Calif.  The Warriors will face the Chico State Wildcats in the four-game series.  The series will begin under the lights with a 6:00 p.m. scheduled game this Thursday, May 1.  The two teams will play a 1:00 p.m. starting doubleheader this Friday, May 2.  The series will conclude this Saturday, May 2 with a noon starting series finale. 
 
FINAL HOME STAND:  The Warriors went 1-3 against Cal State Monterey Bay in their final home stand of the regular season this weekend.  In the four games, Stan State hit .290 as a team while CSUMB hit .326.  Five players hit over .300 in Luke Davies (.400), Robert Valdivia (.333), Alex Solis (.333), Jacob Baker (.333), and Ryan Leonesio (.308).  Flavio Perez drove in six runs and Jonluke Goldman drove in four runs.  Solis scored a team high four runs.  Jacob Baker and Perez each had two doubles while Baker had two of the Warriors' six stolen bases.  Rocco Gurrola picked up the Warrior victory with Cameron Rosen recording his second save. 
 
WARRIORS:  Stan State enters the weekend with a 19-25 overall record and a 14-20 CCAA record.  The Warriors are hitting .283 as a team with a .399 slugging and .365 on-base percentages.  Their fielding percentage is .976.  The Warriors have stolen 49 bases in 58 attempts.  Stan State's earned run average is 6.45.  The Warriors' pitchers have struck out 260 batters and walked 194 in 378 innings pitched. 
 
HITTERS:  Nine Warriors have hit over .275 this season in Jacob Reyes (.357), Ryan Leonesio (.338), Robert Valdivia (.331), Flavio Perez (.318), Luke Davies (.303), Jonluke Goldman (.299), Alex Solis (.295), Jackson Brooks (.292), and Arthur Navarette Jr. (.279). Leonesio leads the Warriors with his .430 on-base percentage while Davies has a team high .525 slugging percentage. Jacob Baker has stolen a team high 11 bases followed by Danny Murphy with ten. Solis has scored a team leading 29 runs and is tied with Perez each with a team leading five home runs.  Perez has hit a team high 16 doubles.  There is a four-way tie for the team lead in triples each with two in Valdivia, Davies, Brooks, and Baker. 
 
PITCHERS:  Noah Chelberg has a team low 3.00 earned run average.  Austin Balentine leads the team with his 5-3 record followed by Rocco Gurrola's 4-4 record.  Gurrola leads Stan State with his 43 strikeouts followed by Balentine with 39 and Cameron Rosen with 34.  Rosen and Chelberg each have recorded two saves.     
 
WALK-OFFS: Stan State has five walk-off victories heading into the final week of the regular season. The first came in the Warriors 3-2 victory in ten innings of Minnesota Crookston on Feb. 16.  Alex Solis had a lead-off double and was pinch ran for by Jackson Brooks who then went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Flavio Perez.  Brooks scored on an Arthur Navarette Jr. infield single to second base.  Their second walk-off win was in the night cap of Saturday's February 22 doubleheader with No. 20 CSUSB.  With one out, Perez and Luke Davies had back-to-back singles.  Danny Murphy pinch ran for Perez and scored on a Jonluke Goldman single up the middle.  On March 7 in the Warriors' 5-4 eleven-inning victory over Cal State Los Angeles, Navarette hit a walk-off single that brought in Jacob Reyes with the game-winning run in the eleventh inning. The Warriors had two walk-off victories in their doubleheader sweep of Sonoma State on April 12.  Robert Valdivia scored the game-winning run in their 10-9 ten inning victory over the Seawolves when Navarette reached on an error.  In the night cap on Saturday, Navarette drove in Valdivia on a walk-off single in the 4-3 victory.
 
RECORD BOOKS:  Six Warriors have moved into the top ten in the Warrior record books in Jacob Baker, Austin Balentine, Ryan Leonesio, Flavio Perez, Alex Solis, and Robert ValdiviaAlex Solis is the career leader with his 52 doubles and 693 at bats while he is tied for the career lead with 296 total bases. Jacob Baker is tied for the career lead with 32 hit by pitches.  Solis is also third in hits (198) and third in runs scored (106).  Baker is seventh with his 37 stolen bases.  Flavio Perez is fourth in doubles (41), sixth in hits (168), fifth in total bases (261), and seventh in home runs (17).  Robert Valdivia is fifth in hits (172) and fourth in sacrifice hits (21).  Ryan Leonesio is tied for eighth in stolen bases (36), seventh in sacrifice hits (19), and tenth in hit by pitches (10).  Austin Balentine is tenth with his 140 strikeouts. 
 
NATIONALLY: Stan State is 11th in the nation in fielding percentage (.976), 14th in double plays per game (0.91), and 17th in sacrifice hits (36).   
 
CCAA STATS:  Stan State is tied for second in triples (12), second in sacrifice hits (36), third in fielding percentage (.976), and fifth in stolen bases (49).  Jacob Baker is tied for fourth in hit by pitches (11), tied for fifth in stolen bases (11), and tied for seventh in triples (2).  Robert Valdivia is tied for fifth in sacrifice hits (six) and tied for seventh in triples (2).  Flavio Perez is second with his 16 doubles and Ryan Leonesio is tied for fifth with his six sacrifice hits.  Jackson Brooks and Luke Davies are tied for seventh with two triples.  Danny Murphy is tied for eighth with ten stolen bases.  Austin Balentine is tied for seventh with his five victories. 
 
FIRST SERIES SWEEP SINCE 2019:  The Warriors recorded their first CCAA four-game series sweep when they swept Cal State East Bay, April 17-19 in Hayward.  This was the first time since sweeping Cal State San Bernardino 4-0, March 22-24, 2019.  They swept the Cal State East Bay Pioneers, 16-8, 12-8, 6-5, and 6-4.  Stan State hit .355 as a team with four players hitting over .400 in Flavio Perez (.667), Robert Valdivia (.550), Ryan Leonesio (.438), and Jonluke Goldman (.417).  The Warriors posted a .553 slugging and .390 on-base percentage.  Flavio Perez led the way with his 12 hits, nine runs batted in, and 20 total bases.  Perez and Alex Solis each hit two home runs with Valdivia hitting one.  Valdivia scored a team leading eleven runs to go with his three doubles.  Over on the mound, Quinn Oliver, Rocco Gurrola, Cameron Rosen, and Austin Balentine each posted victories.  Gurrola and Balentine each struck out five batters.
 
MISCELLANEOUS:  Robert Valdivia has a team high 16 multiple-hit games followed by the trio of Alex Solis, Flavio Perez, and Arthur Navarette Jr. each with 14 and Ryan Leonesio with 13.  Perez leads Stan State with his nine multiple-RBI games followed by Valdivia with eight and Jacob Baker with seven.  Perez had his 15-game hitting streak snapped on Sunday. Luke Davies is on a seven-game hitting streak and an eight-game reached base safely streak. 
 
CHICO STATE:  The Wildcats enter Thursday's game with a 27-18 overall record and a 20-16 CCAA record.  They are hitting .295 as a team with a .399 slugging and .375 on-base percentage.  Their fielding percentage is .977.  Chico State's earned run average is 4.83.  Troy Kent leads the team with his .377 batting average, 66 hits, 14 doubles, nine home runs, 45 runs batted in, 111 total bases, .634 slugging percentage, .456 on-base percentage, and is tied with Thade Miller for the team lead in stolen bases each with eight.  Miller has scored a team leading 41 runs and Michael Baker has a team high three triples.  Evan Tomlinson leads the Chico pitching staff with his 7-1 record.  Ryan Silvers and Aaron McCarthy each have three saves.  Rocco Borrelli has struck out a team high 44 batters.  Jeremy Keller has a team low 4.19 earned run average. 
 
ALL-TIME SERIES:  Chico State leads the all-time series with the Warriors 44-19 since 2008.  The Wildcats took three out of four games from Stan State in Turlock in 2024.  The Warriors won the series finale 12-6 as Austin Balentine recorded the victory in relief.  Luke Davies was three-for-five with three runs batted in, two runs scored, and a triple.  The two teams split their series in Chico in 2023.  Stan State won the first two games 5-4 and 11-5, but Chico State took the last two games 7-1 and 6-4.  Austin Balentine picked up the victory in the 5-4 win while Alex Solis was three-for-five with two runs batted in and a run scored.  In the 11-5 victory, Solis was three-for-four with three runs batted in, and three runs scored.  Tyler Van Dyk, Flavio Perez, and Jacob Baker went a combined six-for-11 with four runs scored.
