Yancey, Avila Power Women’s Soccer to 2–0 Road Victory at Cal State Monterey Bay
SEASIDE, Calif.--- Stanislaus State women's soccer struck early and never looked back on Sunday afternoon, earning a 2–0 road victory over Cal State Monterey Bay in CCAA play at Cardinale Stadium. Behind goals from Aliah Avila and Makeila Yancey, and a shutout performance from goalkeeper Zara Mujica, the Warriors improved to 7–4–4 overall and 3–3–2 in conference action.
First Half
The Warriors set the tone immediately, opening the scoring just three minutes into the match when Avila converted from the penalty spot to make it 1–0. The goal marked Avila's second of the season and ninth career game-winner, moving her into a tie for fourth all-time at Stan State. Stan State continued to apply pressure throughout the half, while Mujica made a key save in the 14th minute to preserve the lead as the defense—anchored by Katie Smith, Makeila Yancey, and Reyna Dismukes—held the Otters scoreless despite six first-half shots.
Second Half
Stanislaus State continued to control possession and push forward after the break. In the 77th minute, Yancey doubled the Warriors' advantage with her first goal of the season, finishing a cross from Haylee Sousa to make it 2–0. Mujica came up with two more saves in the second half to record her fourth shutout of the season and sixth of her career as the Warriors secured their third conference win.

CCAA Soccer Championship Tournament
The six-team CCAA Soccer Championship Tournament begins with first-round matches on Sunday, Nov. 9, at the site of the higher seeds. The semifinals and finals will be played at Cardinale Stadium in Seaside, on the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay, Friday through Sunday, Nov. 14–15. The top two seeds receive first-round byes, and the tournament champion earns the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Championships. Stanislaus State women's soccer is now tied for sixth place in the CCAA standings with Cal State San Marcos at 3-3-2 (7-4-4 overall) with three matches remaining in the regular season. UC Merced remains ineligible for postseason play this season.
