Stan State Men’s Golfers Chomyn and Peters Named FloCollege/CCAA Co-Men’s Golfers of the Week

TURLOCK, Calif.---  As announced this morning by the office of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), Stan State men's golfers Chris Chomyn and Jack Peters were named the FloCollege/CCAA Co-Men's Golfers of the Week. 

Chomyn and Peters tied for first at the three-day Battle in the Desert in Borrego Springs, Calif., each with a nine-under par 207.  Peters won the third hole of the play-off round recording a birdie to earn medalist honors at the Battle in the Desert.

This is the third time in his career at Stan State, Chomyn has received the conference's men's golfer of the week honor.  Chomyn started his week with one-under par 71 on Monday.  He came to shoot a six-under par 66.  The Warrior senior shot a two-under par 70 to finish with a nine-under par 207.

Peters was named the CCAA co-Men's Golfer of the Week for the first time in his career as a Warrior.  The Warrior senior started the Battle in the Desert with back-to-back rounds of five-under par 67.  He finished the final round with a one-over par 73 to finish with a 209.

The Warrior duo played a key role in Stan State finishing as runners-up at the Battle of the Desert at the par-72 Ram Hill Golf Club in Borrego Springs, Calif.  Stan State finished with, a school record for a three-round tournament, 26-under par 838 (278-278-282). No. 12 Georgia Southwestern captured the Battle in the Desert with a 30-under par 834.
Stan State will return the golf course in Alameda, Calif., when the Warriors participate in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park hosted by Cal State East Bay.
