Warrior Trio of Lauderdale, Real, and Wild Lead the Way at West Coast Relays with their NCAA Provisional Times; Stan State Post Eight Top Two Placers
CLOVIS, Calif.--- The Stan State trio of Trent Lauderdale, Mila Real, and Annie Wild posted NCAA Division II provisional times this afternoon at the West Coast Relays. Lauderdale's first place time of 51.21 is now the fastest time in the nation in the 400 hurdles. Real provisionally qualified for nationals with her first-place time of 1:01.27 in the 400 hurdles for the 18th fastest time in the nation. Wild ran a 2:10.37 to finish in second place in the field and she now has the 14th fastest time in the nation. Stan State recorded seven top two finishes in their respective events at the West Coast Relays at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif.
"The team had an incredible showing at the West Coast Relays!" said Stan State head coach Troy Johnson. "The combination of effort, attitude, and competitiveness really makes a difference. Big credit to the athletes for their performances and to the coaches for their preparation."
PROVISIONAL PERFORMANCES: Three Warriors recorded NCAA Division II provisional times this afternoon in Clovis, Calif. Trent Lauderdale ran a time of 51.21 to finish first in the 400-hurdles. That time is currently the fastest time in NCAA Division II and in the CCAA. It is also the third fastest time in school history. Annie Wild now has the 14th fastest time in the nation with her time of 2:10.37 that she ran today at the West Coast Relay and that is the fastest time in the conference. With that time, Wild finished second in today's field. She is seventh in program history. Mila Real captured the 400-hurdles with her provisional time of 1:01.27, which is the 18th fastest time in the nation. Real is second in the conference with that time and second on Stan State's top ten list.
OTHER FIRST PLACE PERFORMERS: The men's 4x400 relay team of Levi Gardner, Jemar Armstrong, Trent Lauderdale, and Dillon Carolina ran a 3:16.27 to capture the West Coast Relays. That time is the third fastest time in the CCAA. Yahaira Zuniga captured the 5000-meter run with her time of 17:23.90. she is now fifth in the CCAA with that time.
FOUR RUNNER-UPS: The men's 4x100 relay team ran a 41.68 to finish second today. That time is the fourth fastest time in the CCAA heading into next week. That team consisted of Eris Hutchins, Jaheim Williams, Jaevin Sawyer, and Trent Lauderdale. Tessa Vasquez ran a 4:35.08 to finish second in the 1500-meter run. She now is atop the CCAA in the women's 1500-meter run. Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva ran a 17:43.42 to finish in second in the 5000-meter run to move into ninth on the CCAA top ten list. Jackson Oliveira ran a 14:33.60 to finish second in the 5000-meter run. He is now sixth on the top ten list in the 5K at Stan State. The Warrior freshman moved into eighth in the CCAA.
WARRIOR TOP FIVE: Several Warriors finished third through fifth today in their respective events at the West Coast Relays. Finishing in third were: Crystal Hernandez (1500, 4:35.75), Rionna Wallace (100, 11.90), Kordic Makenzie (5000, 17:55.04), and Tanner Gerhart (5000, 14:35.23). Fourth place finishers for Stan State were: Dominic Robles (5000, 14:36.10), Jaevin Sawyer (200, 21.67), and Alexis Nino (shot put, 41-1 ½, 12.53m). Fifth place finishers were: Lamont Lane (hammer, 182-11, 55.75m), Mason Oliveira (5000, 14:37.46), Timothy Miles (110 hurdles, 15.31), Abe Alsaidi (1500, 3:57.12), and Dede Salcedo (800, 2:18.13).
UP NEXT: Stan State will travel to the Bay Area for its two next competition, April 3-5. The Warriors will compete in the Mike Fanelli Distance Carnival at Cox Stadium on the campus of San Francisco State University. They will also be at the Stanford Invitational at Cobb Track and Angell Field at Stanford University.
