Warriors Set to Close Season-Opening Homestand with Key Non-Conference Matches

TURLOCK, Calif. — The Stanislaus State women's soccer team will wrap up its season-beginning four-match homestand this week with a pair of non-conference contests under the lights at Warrior Stadium. The Warriors will host No. 24 Hawai'i Hilo on Wednesday, Sept. 10, and Menlo College on Saturday, Sept. 13, with both matches scheduled for 7:00 p.m. kickoffs.

UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS
Through two matches, the Warriors (1-1-0) have scored twice on 39 shot attempts while limiting opponents to just 12 total shots. They opened the season with a 1-0 shutout over Saint Martin's before falling 2-1 to Simon Fraser on Sunday afternoon. Stan State is averaging 19.5 shots per game and has outshot opponents 39-12 overall and 14-9 in shots on goal. Sophomores Grace Fabionar and Haylee Sousa have accounted for the team's two goals, with Aliah Avila recording two assists. Goalkeeper Zara Mujica earned her first collegiate shutout in her debut. The Warriors have also held a slight edge in corner kicks (6-5) and have assisted on all four of their scoring plays so far.

SCOUTING NO. 24 HAWAI'I HILO
The Vulcans (1-0) began their season with a 1-0 win over Chico State this past Friday at home. Elise Flores scored the match-winner with an assist from Melissa Ranvik, while Lydia Keller recorded two saves in the clean sheet. Prior to visiting Turlock, Hilo will face Cal State Monterey Bay on Sept. 8 in Seaside. This will be the fifth meeting between the Warriors and Vulcans, with the all-time series currently tied at 2-2. The teams last met in 2023, when Hilo earned a 3-1 win in Hawai'i. The first three meetings were played in Turlock, including a 3-0 Stan State victory in 2009.

SCOUTING MENLO
Menlo (0-0-1) opened its season with a 3-3 draw at San Francisco State last Thursday. Kylin Gonzalez scored the opening goal for the Oaks, while Haley Dunham netted two—including the late equalizer in the 86th minute. Goalkeeper Giorgia Melcore tallied two saves in the draw. Menlo is scheduled to play at Jessup University on Tuesday, Sept. 9, before heading to Turlock for Saturday's first-ever meeting between the two programs.
