Kirk in Fourth at Six-Under, Warriors Sit Ninth After Two Rounds at Wildcat Classic

MARYSVILLE, Calif. – Powered by a pair of under-par rounds from sophomore Riley Kirk, the Stanislaus State men's golf team finds itself in ninth place after two rounds at the 2025 Wildcat Classic, held at Peach Tree Golf & Country Club.

The Warriors posted team scores of 288 and 286 on Monday for a 36-hole total of 574, finishing the day at two-under-par. The field includes 14 teams competing on the 6,920-yard, par-72 layout.

Kirk delivered one of the tournament's most consistent performances, firing rounds of 69-69 to sit at six-under-par, placing him alone in fourth place individually heading into Tuesday's final round.

He trails only Chico State's Naoki Easterday, who leads the tournament at nine-under-par (135), followed by CSU East Bay's Nathaniel Frink at 136 (eight-under) and Chico State's Vineet Vallamsetty at 137 (seven-under). Rounding out the top five are four players tied at 139 (five-under): Ethan Allred (Chico State), Liam Weaver (CSUSM), Rex Wilson (Western Washington), and Adam Brangefalt (CSU East Bay – individual).

Team-wise, host Chico State leads the 14-team field with a 26-under-par 548, followed by CSU East Bay in second at 559 (17-under) and Western Washington in third at 564 (12-under). Simon Fraser climbed into fourth after a strong second round, finishing the day at 565 (11-under), while Vanguard rounds out the top five with a total of 566 (10-under).

Other scorers for Stan State included:

Competing as an individual, Ethan Gonsalves bounced back with a second-round 71 (one-under) after an opening 78. He sits at 149 (five-over), tied for 66th.

UP NEXT: The Warriors will tee off tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. in the final round of the Wildcat Classic. They will be paired with Jessup and Cal State San Marcos.  Stan State will start on holes seven through nine.  After tomorrow, Stan State will be off until Sept. 29–30, when the Warriors participate in the WWU Invitational in Bellingham, Wash.
