Heading Into the Final Round of the Battle in the Desert, Warriors and Stan State’s Jack Peters Each in First Place
BORREGO SPRINGS, Calif.-- After the first 36 holes of the Battle in the Desert, Stan State is in first place with its twenty-under par 556 (578-578). The Warriors' Jack Peters is in first place with his ten-under par 134 heading into the final tomorrow morning. Stan State is in first place by three strokes ahead of No. 11 Georgia Southwestern and 16 ahead of third place No. 27 UT Tyler.
WARRIORS: Jack Peters leads the way for Stan State with his back-to-back rounds of five-under par 67's for a ten-under par 134. With that score, Peters is in first place by two strokes ahead of UT Tyler's Jay Shero's eight under par 136. Sitting in a tie for third place with UT Tyler's Seth Campbell is Chris Chomyn each with a seven-under par 137. Chomyn shot a one-under par 71 on Monday and came back with a six-under par 66 to finish with his 137. Chase Bird is in a four-way tie for 13th place with his one-under par 143 (68-75). One stroke behind Bird with his even par 144 (72-72) is Nate Jetton which places him in a five-way tie for 17th place. Sitting in a three-way tie for 26th place is Ricky Sullivan with a two-over par 146 (73-73).
TOP FIVE TEAMS: With their back-to-back rounds of 278, the Stan State Warriors are in first place with their twenty-under par 556. Three strokes behind the Warriors is No. 11 Georgia Southwestern with a 17-under par 559 followed by No. 27 UT Tyler in third place with a four-under par 572. Lubbock Christian has shot a one-over par 577 to sit in fourth place while Cal State San Marcos is in fifth place with its four-over par 580.
TOP THREE INDIVIDUALS: The Warriors' Jack Peters leads the tournament field with his ten-under par 134. Peters has shot back-to-back rounds of 67 to give him his 134. Two strokes behind Peters is UT Tyler's Jay Shero with his eight-under par 136. Sitting in a tie for third place is the Warriors' Chris Chomyn and UT Tyler's Seth Campbell each with a seven-under par 137. Georgia Southwestern's Sam Brown is in fifth place with his six-under par 138.
FINAL ROUND: Tomorrow's final round is set for 8:00 a.m. and will be a shotgun start. Pairings have been announced at time of the release of this press release.
