Five Warriors Named to CCAA Championships All-Tournament Team, Ellison Weaver Named MVP
POMONA, Calif.---The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced the CCAA Championship Tournament awards after the final game concluded with Stan State becoming champions. The All-Tournament team featured five Warriors, including Ellison Weaver earning Most Valuable Player.
The 2024 CCAA Championship Tournament team included five Warriors in Isabella Saucedo, Alex Byrd, Gabby Rawson, Haley Burdo, and tournament MVP Ellison Weaver. They each played in every set of the tournament and truly made their mark.
Saucedo averaged 2.64 kills per set, only surpassed on the team by Ellison Weaver. On defense, she recorded 15 digs along with seven total blocks, including one solo block.
Alex Byrd hit .310 during the tournament with 16 kills on 42 attempts and three errors. Byrd accounted for over 70% of Stan State's blocks in the tournament as 17 of the team's total of 24. Byrd combined for 16 out of 17 of her blocks, recorded one solo, making her blocking average 1.55 a set.
Gabby Rawson recorded 61 digs over the three matches, averaging 5.55 digs a set. Rawson combined her digs with 25 assists and six service aces. In the final match, Rawson put up a double-double with 18 digs and 12 assists.
Haley Burdo assisted in 57 kills along with putting up 19 digs and three service aces. Burdo recorded a double-double in the quarterfinals with 10 digs and 18 assists.
Ellison Weaver hit .297 overall with 44 kills on 111 attempts with 11 errors, coming out to an even four kills per set. Weaver combined her offensive pressure with 38 digs and five blocks, playing both sides of the ball well. She recorded two double-doubles in the tournament in the semifinal match (14 kills, 14 digs) and finals match (18 kills, 16 digs) to increase her total to four this season and fifteen in her career.

Stan State won the match 3-1 (25-21,15-25,25-23, 25-18), heading to the CCAA Championship finals for the first time in program history. This win marks their sixth win in a row with five of them being sweeps.
