Sullivan Leads the Way for Warriors After the First Round of the NCAA DII West/South Central Regionals
RIVERSIDE, Calif.--- Ricky Sullivan had four birdies and ten pars in the First Round of the 2025 NCAA Division II West/South Central Regionals to shoot an even-par 72. Sullivan is one of 14 golfers to shoot an even-par 72. As a team, the Warriors shot a three-over par 291 heading into the Second-Round tomorrow morning at the par-72 Victoria Golf Club in Riverside, Calif.
WARRIORS: Stan State shot a three-over par 291 in the First Round of the 2025 NCAA Division II West/South Central Regionals at the par-72 Victoria Golf Club in Riverside, Calif. Leading the way for the Warriors was Ricky Sullivan with his even-par 72. Sullivan is in a 14-way tie for 52nd place. Three Stan State golfers shot a one-over par 73 to sit in a 17-way tie for 66th place in Nate Jetton, Jack Peters, and Chris Chomyn. Chase Bird shot a three-over par 75 to sit in a six-way tie for 94th place.
PARS/BIRDIES: Chris Chomyn had three birdies to go with his 13 pars to lead Stan State. Nate Jetton had three birdies including finishing his round with back-to-back birdies to go with his 12 pars. Recording 11 pars and three birdies was Chase Bird while Ricky Sullivan had 10 pars and four birdies. Jack Peters finished his first round with nine pars and four birdies.
TOP TEAMS: Colorado Christian leads the field with an 18-under par 270. Two strokes behind the Cougars is regional host, Cal State San Bernardino, with its 16-under par 272. One stroke behind the Yotes is Cal State East Bay with a 15-under par 273 followed by Oklahoma Christian with a ten-under par 278. Finishing in a tie for fifth place was West Texas A&M and Dallas Baptist each with a nine-under par 279.
TOP INDIVIDUALS: Oklahoma Christian's Oskari Nikku and Baptiste Touchard of St. Mary's (Texas) are tied for first place each with a nine-under par 63. One stroke behind the duo is Cal State San Bernardino's Chris Wardrup with an eight-under par 64. Sitting in a tie for fourth place is the duo of Sangh Park (Colorado Christian) and Cooper Groshart (Cal State East Bay) each with a seven-under par 75.
SECOND ROUND PAIRING: Stan State will tee off its second round of the regionals at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9. The Warriors will be paired with Simon Fraser and Colorado State Pueblo. Chase Bird will tee off at 10:00 a.m. followed by Nate Jetton at 10:10 a.m. Teeing off at 10:20 a.m. will be Ricky Sullivan followed by Jack Peters at 10:30 a.m. and Chris Chomyn at 10:40 am.
NCAA NATIONALS: The 2025 NCAA Division II Championship is set for May 19-25 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The top six teams and the top two individuals from non-qualifying teams from the West/South Central Regional Championships after Saturday's final round will advance to the Nationals.
