Warrior Women’s Cross Country Tied for 16th in National Rankings
NEW ORLEANS — The Stanislaus State Warrior women's cross country team earned a boost in national recognition this week, moving up one spot to tie for 16th with Rogers State in the USTFCCCA / NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll.
This advancement highlights the strong start to the 2025 season under Head Coach Darren Holman, as the Warriors establish themselves among the top programs nationally. They also continue to lead the way in the region, remaining No. 1 in the NCAA Division II West Region following the release of the regional poll yesterday. Stan State is one of three schools from the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) ranked in the national poll, joining Chico State (20) and Cal Poly Pomona (26).
Over the weekend, the Warriors captured first place at the Kim Duyst Twilight Invitational at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres. In the 6K race, the team posted a combined time of 1:47:25, averaging 21:29 per scoring runner. The victory was even more impressive as Stan State defeated four NCAA Division I programs — UC Davis, Nevada, Sacramento State, and Cal.
Junior Annie Wild led the way for the Warriors, finishing third overall in 21:02.7. All five of Stan State's scoring runners placed in the top 30, demonstrating the depth and balance that has propelled the team upward in the rankings. For her performance, Wild was named the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
With momentum building, the Warriors now turn their attention to the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday, September 27, as they continue their pursuit of conference and national success. Stan State enters the meet as not only the top-ranked team in the West Region but also the highest-ranked program in the CCAA.
